The Benefits of Eating Fruit

fruitWe keep being told to eat more fresh fruit but we don’t get told the reasons for this nor do we really get told how to get the most benefits of eating fruit.

It has long been known that fresh fruit holds many valuable nutrients that our body needs! Fresh fruit can supply us with most of the vitamins, minerals and natural fiber that our bodies need. After all thousands/millions of years ago the human race were foragers living on fruits and veg as our primary source of food. Our digestive systems haven’t evolved much since then really. But our diets and lower exercise levels have changed drastically in this time.

High fat, high sugar diets are not what our bodies are designed to work with. We expect too much and tend to take our bodies for granted sometimes with dire consequences.

So how do we get the most of our fruit intake?

It is recommended that we eat the fruit before main meals while our stomachs are empty. If we eat on a full stomach the goodness that is in our fruit will be lost in the residue from the meal. If eating your fruit on a empty stomach your body including the liver will start to cleanse itself and get it ready for the oncoming onslaught that your meal will bring. This has been shown to help with greying hair, balding, nervous outbursts and dark circles under the eyes. amongst others.
